Here’s the publisher’s description: War-weary veteran Ami Lehem loses her husband, her farm, and the life she built on the planet Dibon following a catastrophic meteor strike. Her journey across the galaxy to return her mother-in-law to her ancestral home on the moon Melas is far more adventure than either woman wanted, but the web of intrigue waiting for them at the end of their odyssey threatens to drag Ami back to a life of war.

I’ve read it, and it’s a wonderful novel. It would be a great read if you knew nothing about the book of Ruth. But it’s lovely to see how Mitchell seamlessly weaves in the biblical details in a way that works with the galactic setting.

Melinda Mitchell (also known as Mindi Welton-Mitchell) grew up in Alaska and has lived all over the United States, currently residing in Wisconsin with her husband and son. Raised by parents who were fans of science fiction and fantasy, she has written numerous nonfiction articles on the intersection of theology and sci-fi and has co-authored two academic papers on the subject. She is also the Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of Wisconsin.
